Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors are peer elected volunteers and usually serve on the Board for five to eight years, with at least one year as president. The Board meets once a month to plan all events and activities and discuss financial and administration matters.

The Association employs a part-time Events and Administration Manager to coordinate all of its business.

Stephen Giblett

Stephen is the Buildings Group Leader at Mott MacDonald NSW and he has more than 20 years of structural engineering experience in both Australia and the UK. Stephen’s key interest are architectural buildings and structures with complex structural requirements.

Todd Halliday

Northrop Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd


Todd is a Principal and the Sydney Structural Section Manager at Northrop Consulting Engineers. Todd commenced his engineering career in 1996 and joined Northrop in 2005 as a Senior Structural Engineer. In addition to his structural design consultancy experience he has 2 years’ experience in construction management and as a result of this experience has a passion for providing practical cost-effective solutions to both clients and builders alike.


Matt Harding

Robert Bird Group

Matt is a Principal in Robert Bird Group Sydney Office and has more than 15 years’ experience in New Zealand, Canada and Australia. Prior to Joining Robert Bird Group in 2006, Matt worked for Beca in the Wellington office with a focus on commercial building and industrial design. Matt has gained a wide range of experience in major residential, retail and commercial projects as well as large infrastructure projects and PPPs.

Michael Jaroszewicz

MAJ Consulting Pty Ltd

BSc MICE, MIE(Aust), CPEng, NPER, RPEQ, Registered Building Practitioner Victoria

Michael is the Principal of MAJ Consulting and has been a Director since 1989 and has close to 35 years’ experience in the structural design, construction and refurbishment of medium rise buildings. He has worked in the commercial, health-care, hospitality and residential sectors in Australia, as well as the UK and Middle East. As a Project Manager he has significant expertise in the repair of buildings damaged by earthquake, foundation settlement and spalling concrete.

Trudy Myers

Trudy has more than 10 years’ experience in the building and construction industry and has expertise in the design, detailing and construction of a variety of building materials across a wide range of sectors. Trudy has worked on numerous complex projects around Australia, with a focus on delivering economical and innovative solutions. She has a strong technical background strengthened by excellent leadership and communications skills. Trudy is motivated, proactive and a successful leader in her field, and was awarded Young Professional Engineer 2012, and Highly Commended Future Leader in 2013.

Andrew Simpson

SDA Structures Pty Ltd

Andrew is a Director of SDA Structures and has 25 years’ of experience in the design, construction and refurbishment of building structures. His work includes numerous medium and large-scale public buildings, educational facilities, commercial premises and residential projects.

Deb Smee

Deborah is an Associate Principal at ACOR Consultants. She is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers. She has over 20 years’ experience in providing structural solutions to the retail, commercial, residential and industrial sectors in Australia and overseas. In addition to this, she has worked as the bridges and structures lead and Independent Verifiers Representative on highway upgrade projects.
Deborah is responsible for the performance of projects from origination - working closely with the client on the project strategy and innovative concepts - through to successful delivery of the project and designs.
She has also served as NSW President and Board member of the Concrete Institute of Australia and has been a Committee member of the Engineers Australia Civil and Structural panel

Glen Fowlie

Glen is a Technical Director at Taylor Thomson Whitting with over 14 years’ experience across New Zealand, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. Glen has taken lead on a number of significant, iconic and technically complex projects for TTW. Glen’s pragmatic approach has seen him develop his career across various project sectors including healthcare, transportation, commercial, public buildings, and education.

Joyce is currently the discipline manager of the Structures team in Arcadis’ Buildings NSW business. She has over twelve years of experience in the different aspects of structural engineering for both local and international projects. Joyce has been involved across various stages of a project, from master-planning to concept design, through to detailed design and construction handover. Joyce’s extensive design capabilities have culminated from her experience and involvement in a variety of large scale and high profile projects. Her technical excellence combined with project management skills to lead and motivate teams, have contributed to the successful delivery of projects to clients.
